Thinking spring

I love winter and all this snow. Love it. I also love the anticipation for spring's arrival. I thrive on the "interesting weather" Michigan provides us with on a daily basis. My thoughts keep turning to our new house and what the yard will look like in the spring. Particularly the sand box area and the fronds that I am waiting patiently for to burst out of the ground. A perfect little hiding spot for my garden gnome. He's a special little guy holding a blue bird. It doesn't matter that my true intent is to terrify my little man. He has taken up an interest in garden gnomes. He is both fascinated and frightened. Can't wait to see his reaction when he spies the little guy peering at him from the fronds. He also just informed me that his "brain is thinking about target". me too buddy me too

new additions

In the past I have done a few earrings and rings using the felt flowers. I liked them as separate pieces but along with my necklaces and headbands maybe just a bit to much felt. So, that brings me to the end of my search/today. I've dropped off a group of rings and earrings with the intention that they are to coordinate with my felt headbands and necklaces. Hope you like them.

My original project using felt involved Christmas stockings that I needed to make for each member of the new family. Mine had birds, Landon had baby deer, and Shaun's had stars. Lets just say, aside from the animals there will never be photos posted of this crafty endeavor. When my girls were born they had crazy hair. crazy. So we started out with the bows then I though, hmmmm when I saw my left over birds from the Christmas stockings. I also had deer silhouettes left over too. Made a few headbands and lets just say, those will never be seen publicly ever... Cue recent times, I finally worked out a design that I like using the animal silhouettes that originally inspired all this. They have a snap clip hidden in them and any colors you would like to see them in, let me know. It's good to back to your roots sometimes. I hope you like em

Fading summer

The first signs of fall are creeping in and I can't say I mind at all. I am a lover of the all things fall. My hydrangea bushes in their summer peak are this brilliant blue that inspired my original pretty hydrangea design. As the summer days grow hotter and longer, they begin to fade into this blue/grey/green hybrid color. When fall finally arrives they dry into these perfect fossils of summer.

Thus my theme for the month of august "fading summer" dramatic, yes, but fitting I suppose. I relish in the moments of every season. I guess for that reason I am true Michigander. Don't talk to me in the winter because you will probably hate me. Yes I am one of those rare people who find the winters soul cleansing, peaceful and inspiring. Totally getting off subject. Anyways, Karla is receiving a new group of pretties including necklaces and headbands. I am starting to pull out the velvet and lace as the new season starts to unfold. Hope you enjoy and look around, I've seen mums already and a few tree tops fading to read.

I stopped by Karla's Place this morning for some face to face info on a special order, and I saw this headband that I made awhile back. Not sure why, but it told me that it wanted to go home with me. Not only that, it knew that today was a clean house day. So it left with me, on my head, to wear while I clean the house. I want all my single ladies/wives/mommas out there to have one of these to wear while cleaning. It made it so much more happy.

Especially when my 3 year old ran out of the bathroom asking for help. It made changing diapers and wiping bottoms so much more glamorous

It's official. "Hoarders" is about to come knocking at my door. In an effort to avoid Shaun from submitting me to the show, I have been de-stashing and Karla is the recipient of this massive endeavor. There are a ton of new things, new designs, recycled/re purposed jewelry being hung and displayed as I type. Make sure and stop by Karla's place in treehouse bookstore. Right now I am working on several different ideas. Inspiration has been striking me at a chaotic pace. I have some lovely custom orders as well as a ton, and I mean a ton, of antique/thrifted jewelry just begging to be transformed. I've searched for the perfect bag forever. Is there such a thing? I liken it to a bigfoot sighting, rare, fleeting, but out there..... somewhere.

That's when it happened. I spied this mustard treat (can you tell I am obsessed with this color) at target, of course, duh. I know it won't last but I will relish in its perfection for as long as it will allow. Alas, it was missing something. Perhaps a pretty? Of course.

An experiment with color

I read somewhere that turquoise is the color of 2010. Along with that and a lovely friend who is passionate about all things turquoise, I am inspired to experiment in it's glory. I am hoping to drop off a small load at Karla's place this week. In other big news, she is moving to the FRONT of treehouse bookstore. How awesome is that. Stop by and say hello. She just so happens to be one of the sweetest people ever, on top of having one of the coolest stores.

I am an optimist now. Good thing, since it's the most gruelling part of winter and I am getting over (along with my entire family) what was most likely the flu or some form of it. I will not derail in finding the good. Apparently sickness is good for my creative brain, or rather, being cooped up at home because I have been really productive and have come up with a few of my favorite things thus far in the life of pretty little things. Even if you don't get a pretty, it's totally worth checking out her store. All of the following necklaces are available there and are priced at 10$ish I believe. This picture has absolutely nothing to do with Pretty little things but I love the white and the silver and after setting it up on my TV cabinet I was inspired to get working on more necklaces. Thank you all for being so lovely and supporting me while I catch my bearings in this. I will be busy revising my pricing and working on getting things a little more organized for you all.

Meanwhile, The necklaces have been a shear joy for me to create. With that said, I am currently thrifting and antiquing to replenish my supplies. I've also had several people approach me with their old jewelry to breath new life in. I kind of love doing that even more. So if you have any old stuff you'd like to pass onto me, I'd be more then happy to update it for you and turn it into a pretty little thing.

I also have a ton of Christmas/ holiday hair treats. I'll post some photo's for those who might be interested.

Pretty Little Grown Ups

I've decided to expan a little bit. Inspired by my recent thrift/antique obsession and some old jewelry I wanted to re-purpose, I introduce a jewelry line. I will have all these pieces with me this saturday at cherry lane preschool 9-3. Most will be 6$ some may be a little more based on the antiquity of the items involved.

So whenever I analyze my wedding photo's and wonder what I would've done different, it's not the food, location, etc. It my veil. I can't help but wish I either didn't wear a veil or at least, took if off for the reception and did something else. Thus, the following was created.
